Back With A Bang

Allington's Big Weekend is back on July 5th to 7th. Expect live music, a beer festival, car show, delicious food, and a whole lot of fun for everyone. The event kicks off at 6pm on Friday with the opening of our carefully curated beer festival and two live acts. We re-open on Saturday at noon when the beer festival resumes. There will be more live music throughout the day. On Sunday the car show takes centre stage, with a whole range of interesting vehicles and trade stalls. Allington Manor will also be joining in - by hosting an interesting collection of high-performance sports cars in the courtyard from 12:00 noon onwards. Their Gardens will be open during the afternoon with a garden bar and live music.


Charges apply on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6pm. It's £15 per adult per day or opt for a weekend pass for just £20. Kids under 16 can come along for free with an adult. At all other times (Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday), admission is free. Tickets are available from The Welby Arms Allington, or you can purchase them online using the link below.

Sunday sees the annual car show featuring vehicles of interest at the playing field and performance sports cars at the Manor.

Featured Artists

RELENTLESS

Relentless are an energetic trio guaranteed to keep audiences entertained. With a wealth of experience touring the UK, Europe and USA with their 50s influenced rock n roll &rockabilly, they also perform well known cover songs in their unique rockabilly style.

FOOTLOOSE

Footloose are a covers vocal instrumental duo with a full band sound, performing dance hits from the 50’s to the 00’s. They cover Disco, Rock and Roll, Reggae, Motown , Northern Soul, Golden Oldies, Rock, and Modern. Its all great music!

THE BOTTLES

The Bottles are a 3-piece acoustic trio from Nottingham. They play covers from a wide range of artists & genres. They include Oasis, Beatles, Madness, Arctic Monkeys, Bowie, George Ezra, Stone Roses, Jason Mraz with some Rock ‘n’ Roll and Motown thrown in for good measure.

SONS OF SOMNUS

Sons of Somnus are a local 4-piece band featuring Adam Chippendale lead vocals &

guitar, Kevin Knowles/ Drums, Craig Fawkes/ Bass guitar and Rich Hills/ guitar. They perform original songs written by Adam and cover songs from various artists. They like to keep things light-hearted and up beat, and to see everyone having a good time and joining in.

MAGGIE BAKER

Maggie's musical and vocal talents are well know to the residents of Allington, and for many miles beyond. She has appeared at the 2023 Big Weekend and many of its predecessor events. Maggie's extensive repertoire dates from the 50's to the present day, providing a wide appeal. You will find her taking to the stage on Saturday afternoon.

HATTIE JOHNSON

Hattie Johnson is an acclaimed singer, director, and producer known for her captivating performances and dynamic stage presence. Her latest masterpiece, the Revisiting Amy stage show, has garnered widespread acclaim and is set to grace the West End in 2025! She will be performing at the car show on Sunday 7 July.

The Beer Festival

Throughout this weekend of live music and automotive extravagance sits the beer festival. It's modest in size but full of variety. All the beers have been carefully selected by our resident beer guru. There's a good collection of pale ales, including the popular heavenly blonde. The lighter beers are complemented by some darker, fruity and red varieties - and there's even a mild for a touch of nostalgia. The beers are on sale throughout the weekend. The Venue

Allington Playing Field is located on the edge of the village on Bottesford Road. You can get directions from the map opposite. The site will provide covered accommodation in three medium sized marquees.

There are permanent toilets on site and a brick pavilion which will house the beer festival. Hot food will be available throughout the weekend together with trade stalls on Sunday.

Ample car parking is available on site. Please do not park on the village streets or the verges outside the playing field.

FAQs

Which bits are free?

We charge for access to the live music. On Friday and Saturday that is from 6pm onwards. At all other times access is free.

Where does the money go?

The majority of proceeds from this event go to support Allington Playing Field. We also make a donation to a local charity.

Can I bring my own drinks?

You cannot bring your own drinks into the venue for the beer festival and the live music. In this area we provide a licensed bar and refreshments at reasonable prices.

Can I bring my own chair?

Yes you can but please be aware that space inside the marquees may be limited.
