Allington News

Allington is very lucky to have a village newspaper – the Allington News. It was started in September/October 1982 and since then has been delivered, free, every two months to every property in Allington and Sedgebrook, as well as being posted to some Allingtonians who no longer live in the village.

It contains regular reports from Allington and Sedgebrook Parish Councils, Holy Trinity and St Lawrence churches, Allington WI, the school and Allington Gardens, news about local activities and groups, and significant events for villagers.

To begin with, the paper was printed in black & white, but is now in colour. Over the last 40 years, the Allington News has reported on many changes in the village. All but three issues are available to be read in the Community Library in the Village Hall – a fascinating history of Allington.

The paper is funded by some local advertisers, donations and the 200 Club. Supporters buy a numbered ticket in the Club for £12 a year (i.e. £1 a month). This ticket is entered into a monthly draw for cash prizes of £35, £20, £15, £10 and two of £5. Winners are published in the paper. If you would like to join the 200 Club, email
